Contemporary Jewelry

Brand New:
This item is brand new and still in the factory packaging or recently removed from the packaging for shipment in a MR Jewelry gift box.

Used:
This item has been removed from the factory packaging and worn or used in some fashion. This piece is still nearly brand new condition, but has been used.

Vintage Jewelry

The condition of a particular piece of vintage jewelry is very subjective and you might rate a piece differently than us. Therefore, to eliminate as much ambiguity as possible we use the follow criterion when grading our vintage jewelry. Moreover, if you receive a piece of our vintage jewelry and disagree with the condition grade, you can take advantage of our 100% satisfaction guarantee and return the piece.

Mint:
New, in the box(from which it has never been removed), as it came from the factory. This criteria is very difficult to meet and is almost never used.

Near Mint:
Appears never to have been worn or used. Likewise it was stored properly, however it may show its age by tarnishing. Note: A polished piece will no longer grade at near mint.

Excellent:
Top condition with no chipping, fading, missing stones, yellowing stones, darkened stones, peeling, worn prongs, or edges. Backs, especially on earrings, may be very slightly worn as long as the front is still in top condition. Replaced stones should be so perfect in size, cut, and color that they are virtually indistinguishable from the other stones.

Very Good:
Well cared for with no missing stones, darkened stones, or peeling. Enamel may have minor chips. Prongs and edges may show slight wear or very light scratching. Backs may be moderately worn. Replaced stones should be a good match in size and color.

Good:
Very wearable and acceptable, however, upon close inspection may reveal some poor foiling, including small 'pepper' spotting, minor yellowing, minor graying, enamel may be chipped, and the piece will show signs of wear.

Fair:
Damage is immediately visible and may or may not be repairable. This might include missing stones, dark stones, cloudy stones, yellow stones, broken parts, and severe wear. However, with a little TLC the piece can be brought back to wearable life.
